EasyJet took four months to warn customers that hackers had their personal information

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), organisations must tell the ICO – the UK’s data protection regulator – about a personal data breach within 72 hours. And, if the breach is likely to result in a “high risk of adversely affecting individuals’ rights and freedoms”, organisations must also inform those individuals without undue delay. Nine million customers’ details hacked in EasyJet data breach

EasyJet has fallen victim to hackers. According to the airline, the personal details of nine million customers have been stolen and 2,208 customers have also had their credit card details accessed. And, while a spokesperson says there is no evidence that this information has been misused by criminals, we would urge victims of the EasyJet data breach to take urgent steps to protect themselves.
